The LA Galaxy reportedly failed in a late summer move to sign Hirving Lozano, with the Mexico international instead re-joining Dutch side PSV Eindhoven.

According to the Athletic, the California giants made an attempt to bring the former Napoli winger back to North America, though Lozano was not interested in joining MLS at this stage in his career.

The most expensive Mexican in the history of soccer, Lozano has been linked with a move to America for quite some time, with the Galaxy’s rivals LAFC strongly rumored with a move for the attacker this summer.

However, it was PSV that won the race for Lozano, with the 28-year-old option to return to the Netherlands rather than try something new in America with the Galaxy.

With Greg Vanney’s side unable to make non-free agent signings, though, pulling off a deal with Napoli to sign Lozano was always going to be a challenge for the Galaxy this summer.

And that proved to be the case, with the player himself choosing a return to PSV and another shot at UEFA Champions League football rather than switching Europe for MLS.

As one of the highest-rated Mexican players in Europe, there’s a good chance that Lozano could one day swap the biggest heights soccer has to offer for a move back to North America in MLS.

And the Galaxy could be the winger’s next destination, with the LA giants still one of the most attractive franchises in the division and a club many top players could want to join.

With Lozano likely to only last a few years with PSV, a move to the Galaxy could still be in the world, with the MLS side potentially already putting in work to sign the attacker before the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
