Billy Sharp is reportedly closing in on a move to the LA Galaxy, with the 37-year-old striker completing his medical ahead of signing for the MLS giants.

According to British journalist Mike McGrath, the veteran forward is set to sign for the Galaxy until the end of the MLS season with an option to sign for an extra season.

Sharp rejected Championship offers to make the move to America having been released by Sheffield United this summer, with the forward deciding to leave despite their promotion back to the Premier League.

The veteran striker is considered a legend at Bramall Lane having made well over 350 appearances for the Blades, scoring 120 goals across the Championship and Premier League.

And now, Sharp is taking his goalscoring talents to California with the Galaxy, with Greg Vanney’s side acquiring a forward who could add some much-needed firepower to their ranks for the remainder of the season.

Signing a 37-year-old is always a risk for an MLS side, yet in Sharp, the Galaxy could have a player who could get the California-based giants over the line for the remainder of the year.

Goals have been a massive struggle for the Galaxy this season with Javier Hernandez out injured, and Sharp can plug that hole if he can get up and running in LA.

By no means a long-term signing, Sharp has the experience and a striker’s eye to win the Galaxy some much-needed points in the second-half of the season, with the attacker seemingly keen on the move.
