LA Galaxy manager Greg Vanney still thinks making the MLS playoffs is likely despite losing 4-2 on the weekend to rivals LAFC.

Speaking to the Galaxy’s official website, the coach made the bold claim that a post-season charge is still possible despite the incredible odds that are against the LA franchise.

The Galaxy currently sit six points off the playoffs with seven games left to go, with four of these fixtures taking place at home at Dignity Health Sports Park.

With some key away ties against playoff rivals Austin FC and Minnesota United also coming up, the Galaxy have it all to play for in the coming weeks in MLS.

Yet despite losing in El Trafico, Vanney remains confident that the Galaxy can make it to the post-season, with the MLS coach saying: “We’ve got enough points in front of us.

“We’ve got to perform. For us, our home games are really important. The next two games are against teams that we are trying to track down, amongst other games in front of us.”

A franchise as big as the Galaxy shouldn’t be this low in the Western Conference standings heading into the final fixtures of the regular season. Yet this year has been an eye-opener for supporters.

The Galaxy will need a miracle if they’re to somehow make the post-season, with the current form of the squad showing inconsistent form that won’t get any club far in the standings.

Indeed, the Galaxy could embark on a late run to the MLS playoffs, yet coming off a 4-2 loss to their Los Angeles rivals, finding confidence will be hard for Vanneu and his squad.
